August - Saeco

August 2005 : Saeco
Stylish coffee...
Saeco, one of the world's leading producers of quality coffee machines, chose to place their product distribution in Scandinavia with the distributor Appliance A/S. This effort was part of their Nordic sales strategy.

Thus, Appliance needed a web solution which was able to reflect Saeco's product variety. However, the web solution also had to be user friendly and non-technical so that it would be easy to maintain and update each of their four Nordic sub-solutions.
We wanted to be able to manage all web pages from a central location to ensure that the message is consistent in all countries. Moreover, we also wanted to be able to manage each of the sub-solutions locally as this would make it easier to adapt the sub-solutions to each country.

Appliance A/S

By implementing the new solution in the Content Management System Dynamicweb, the company was able to manage each of the Nordic sub-solutions from a central administration system. It is easy to access the pages of each sub-solution by using an intuitive user interface. All that is required is a computer with Internet access.

Keeping the design line intact

By gathering all Nordic sub-solutions in a single solution with the same line of design, Appliance was able to secure a consistent design in their entire web solution. All design templates are implemented into the system which only leaves text to be adapted to the local countries. Thus, Appliance was able to communicate consistently to each market.

On the front page, Saeco's products are displayed by using a stylish flash function which was easily implemented into Dynamicweb.

Dynamicweb enabled Appliance to gather all Saeco's products in an interactive product catalog. Moreover, it was easy to keep product information updated and accessible via their web solution.

Product images use an innovative graphical setup and they are also used to navigate to each product.

“As Saeco's Nordic profile was worked out, their website provided a natural centre for their marketing platform. This is where information is kept up-to-date, and it is also the place where dealers are informed of ways to sell a quality product which appeals to life style consumers in the right way. Thus, the Dynamicweb CMS solution was the best choice as it has solved similar tasks for us in the past”, says manager Stig Pedersen from Brandpunkt which designed the solution.

During the last few years, coffee has moved away from being the traditional black coffee in the pot. Instead, it has become a passion where individual taste is of vital importance. Thus, the web solution contains various reading material, and you can also find out how to make an exciting and different cup of coffee as the web solution has an on-line collection of recipes which is extended continuously.

Moreover, the web solution uses video presentation to visualize the high quality of Saeco's products and the many opportunities that users have to adapt the coffee to suit their individual tastes.

Saeco in brief

The history of Saeco International Group dates back to 1976 when Sergio Zapella established GSL, a company which produced espresso coffee machines. In 1981, Sergio Zapella and Arthur Schmed, a Swiss engineer, established Saeco S.r.l. in Gaggio Montano, a small town in the province of Bologna.

After having worked together for a few years, they presented their first fully automatic espresso coffee machine in 1985.

Since then, the company has benefited from its innovative development and today, it is among the world's leading companies within their field.
