Villa Collection is a trend and lifestyle company which is one of the trend-setters within the gift and interior business. The collections are developed especially for specialty stores. Thus, great emphasis it put on presenting the products. To ensure consistency in their marketing, this high level of presentation should also apply to the new company website.

Thus, Villa Collection needed a system which was able to present their products in a fast and simple way on the Internet… Dynamicweb was an obvious choice! Brandpunkt was the partner which met the challenge, and they managed to implement the solution successfully, including the advanced product structure.

Within our line of business, the actual product presentations are crucial when it comes to making the sales. Thus, it was very important to us that we were able to implement this feature without having to make compromises in our design.

From Navision to Dynamicweb via XML into Flash

“Our ambition was to develop a product display which combined advanced XML structures with Flash-based product displays. We contacted NoZebra which is our preferred partner when it comes to Flash”, says the head of the Brandpunkt bureau, Stig Pedersen. And he adds “Together, we have developed a product display system which is extremely easy to maintain. Moreover, it can also present products in several ways, including various products joins and references”.

A Navision query indicated that more than 2,000 products needed to be implemented and displayed on the Internet. This is a complicated process which often results in boring displays and an uninspiring product catalog, but Brandpunkt was not satisfied by just achieving this.

All products are created in the Dynamicweb Product Catalog. Subsequently, they are automatically exported to Flash where the various product types and product ranges are combined and displayed in various image sizes without delay. The result is a tool which is able to present a comprehensive product range in a beautiful and flexible way.

Villa Collection wanted their website to contain Flash content, but at the same time, they also wanted a simple and clear design.

“Within our line of business, the actual product presentations are crucial when it comes to making the sales. Thus, it was very important to us that we were able to implement this feature without having to make compromises in our design. The simple Flash presentation of our products has fully met our needs of a simple, functional and stylistically consistent design”, says Per Ellegaard from Villa Collection.

The result of Villa Collection is a beautiful and different website which employs the latest technologies to support the experience of navigating the Villa Collection universe.

Actually developing the custom-built module for Dynamicweb takes time, but it is not as complicated as you would think. Of course, this project required knowledge of both XML and Flash code in order to develop it successfully. However, Brandpunkt even wants to handle more and larger projects in the future.
