All about sugar |

|
With an annual production of 1.2 million tones, Danisco Sugar is one of the largest and most effective sugar suppliers in Europe. Sugar production is mainly based on sugar beets and takes place in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Germany and Lithuania.
More than 85% of the output is sold to the food industry, mainly to manufacturers of soft drinks, confectionery, jam, marmalade, bakery and dairy products, while the remaining part is sold in the retail market under the Dansukker brand.
The company’s marked-orientated product development and strong focus on providing consumers with a wide and attractive selection of sugar products, is complemented by a functional website that is centered on the user-experience of Dansukker products. With consumers in many different countries the website covers not only many different food cultures, but also different languages. The Swedish communication agency ID Kommunikation therefore developed a multinational website that revolves around the joy of preparing and consuming quality food. The website thus presents the consumer with information on recipes, tips, ideas, and knowledge on nutrition.

Focus on the consumerWith the option of choosing between eight different languages, the focus is on the consumer needs right from the very first contact with the website. However, the many languages constituted a design challenge as the overall look and feel of the website needed to remain the same across the different languages, while still retaining the freedom to make individual adjustments on the sub-sites.
ID Kommunikation developed the website using a Dynamicweb Business solution in combination with Dynamicweb Language/Area. The use of Language/Area allowed a structured control, where elements can easily be re-used on the different language areas. The appealing and open design is therefore the same for all users, but the individual elements such as “Recipes”, “Food Culture” or “Tips and Ideas” are adjusted to national needs and taste buds.
“We are very delighted about our Dansukker website and how inviting it is to the consumer. Once you clicked on the language of your choice you cannot help to be inspired by the many different culinary possibilities that unfold. The website creates an effective link between our products, our corporate image and the consumer’s everyday lives. What also pleased us about the solution is the easy control of the different language sub-sites. When updating information, recipes or images it is very easy to maintain an overview and control of the process.” – Marlene Alminde, Danisco Sugar
In addition to the many recipes and tips that may inspire the consumer, the website also offers the possibility of searching directly for information. A custom search module allows the user to search for words in either recipes alone or the entire website. This functionality adds an extra touch of user-friendliness, as a consumer for instance might conduct a search on a specific product and find which recipes it is used in.
Finally the website contains a number of elements that inform the consumer on issues related to the use of sugar and the Danisco Corporation. People concerned about the properties and applications of sugar or sweeteners are directed to a glossary on specific words, while others might for instance watch an introduction film to Danisco or visit the sugar museum. |
