El-Salg unites 300 stores in one customer-oriented solution
El-Salg is a co-operative purchase- and marketing organisation consisting of more than 300 independent electricians from all over Denmark. The organisation has worked with Dynamicweb CMS for more than two years in connection with both Intranet and Extranet. It was decided to build on the experiences with these systems when the time came to re-launch their website.
As we were considering re-launching our website, we wanted to extend the productive relationship we had with Dynamic Systems A/S and decided to implement Dynamicweb CMS. We had already worked with the system for more than two years in connection with our intra- and extranet, and we therefore found it natural to build on our experiences with the system and in this way obtain a high level of synergy between our solutions. The integration with our Axapta product database has been a focal point in the construction of our websites. In a dynamic organisation it is crucial that you can easily maintain product information on the website.

One of the foundational thoughts regarding the new web solution was that all product data should be collected directly from El-Salg’s Axapta product database and presented to visitors on the website. At the same time a need existed for a more user-friendly administration of all the information about products and the independent electricians.  
 
The navigation setup and the level of information had to mirror the fact that the solution was directed at private consumers; sections were needed with both common product presentations and more specialised ones featuring tips and ideas and a terminology dictionary.

Integration across platforms

By integrating Axapta with Dynamicweb the possibility now exists to exchange data between the external and internal systems. This means that when information is updated in Axapta, this is automatically transferred to all other relevant locations on the net. In this way El-Salg only has to maintain product data in one place, which ensures that the information is always the same wherever it is accessed in the system.
 

But it is not just the exchange of data information between different IT-platforms that helps ensure the actuality of the web solution; the presentation of the latest sales flyer is also a standard element in the solution. Publishing the flyer electronically makes it possible for the consumer to find exactly the right product without having to leave home.

El-Salg in brief

The 300 stores, which are part of El-Salg, have an annual turnover of more than 500 million DKK. In the line of business that El-Salg is part of it is normal practice that most products are ordered directly from the many sub-contractors. El-Salg combines this with having certain products centrally stocked. This makes the solutions much more complex than if all products were centrally stocked for all the stores.
