November 2005 : Ministery of Food, Agriculture, Food and Fisheries
Portal creates added value for citizens and companies
The aim of the Danish Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries is to offer a high level of service to both citizens and companies. Thus, they needed a website which could provide users with an overview of information which used to be scattered across various websites.

Well planned co-operation

There were numerous demands for the large-scaled web project, and during the entire project, the Ministry worked closely together with their Dynamicweb partner, IBM Public, and Dynamic Systems. The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries prepared a detailed system requirements specification which took the special conditions which apply to public web solutions into consideration. Together with IBM Public, the Ministry drew up a document which described all their needs and requirements. This document became the basis for prototypes and solution descriptions. Most requirements were already covered by Dynamic Systems' standard CMS software, but 13 modules were developed specially for the web solution.
It has been a pleasure to work together with IBM Public and Dynamic Systems. All parties are very competent in managing a project of this scale.

Integration with Dynamicweb

During the entire process, an important issue was integration with other public web applications. An example is the integration with the job bank: “Job i staten". This integration means that the latest openings within the public sector are displayed on the Ministry's website.

“Dynamicweb has provided us with a solid platform for our website. The product is flexible and uses an intuitive user interface which makes it easy to update and maintain information. The integration with other websites works perfectly and it provides us with an interactive and dynamic website”., says Mr Martin S. Kjær from the Communication department at the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries.

Providing services to individual citizens

With their new website, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries have established a single portal which provides access to the numerous self-service solutions and service activities that the various institutions within the Ministry have to offer.
Moreover, the website also makes is possible to access the large amount of information that the Ministry publish. This provides both citizens and companies with the option of deciding for themselves when and where to solve various tasks or search for specific information.

“More and more citizens and companies use self-service solutions or search for information on the Internet. This makes certain demands on the public sector to continuously develop and improve the services provided on the Internet”, says the Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, Mr Hans Chr. Schmidt.

“We want to base our decisions on the needs of the individual citizens, and by creating a single portal for the Ministry's web services, we have succeeded in providing a clear overview of our information. This has made it easier to target our information towards our various segments. Thus, we are able to strengthen our services towards the individual citizens”, says the Minister.

“The portal improves our ability to market our self-service solutions, and in the long term, it will lead to a cheaper and more efficient public service”, says Mr Hans Chr. Schmidt.

The information available on the Ministry's new portal is categorized into target groups and topics. This makes it easier for individual users to find specific information and services.
