Weber goes online with Dynamicweb |

It is not the size of the company that determines the quality of the product. It is the extent of the enthusiasm!
Since 1951, when the first Weber grill was born, Weber has been the choice for those who are passionate about grilling!
The market leader in barbeque grills, Weber, was facing a new business challenge when they decided to bring their online marketing to a whole new level. As the passion for grilling and the demands for Weber quality in every aspect of the grilling life style rose, the company sought a new way of meeting the demands of all the grill buffs around the world - in one central place.
Ease of use – the way to the futureThey wanted a high level of interactivity and for the visitors to feel like they are a part of a special community within the Weber World. With their existing website, which was powered by SmartSite, these changes might be hard to come by, because it is based on a Microsoft ASP platform. A CMS platform based on the newest .NET technology, could be the way forward. Such a platform could take their entire e-business into the future! |

Weber found that Dynamicweb CMS is a more flexible Content Management System when it comes to the daily management of their website. They also chose Dynamicweb CMS because of the extensive number of interactive modules which is standard for Dynamicweb. This higher level of interaction was to be incorporated not only on the new website but also – in time - on all the different subsites for Club Weber.
Flexibility is a must - .Net outruns .ASPTheir old CMS was not as flexible as Dynamicweb or as user friendly, so when Weber wanted to be able to build other subsites into the system – and for them to be maintained locally – Dynamicweb was the obvious choice because of the many possibilities the system can offer in terms of multi-site management Furthermore, Dynamicweb is .Net based. For example, if they wanted to create an online shop on the website, that would not be possible with the ASP platform unless they invested largely in developing a platform that has long been replaced by .Net.
They would also have run into problem when the subsites for Club Weber started to roll, as the ASP platform doesn’t run as smoothly and reliably as an .Net platform. So with all the different language areas that the Weber website would have, they might experience slow updates and faults in the system. However, by choosing Dynamicweb and the .Net platform, they have now dodged that problem.
Dynamicweb – an intelligent online toolDynamicweb is much more of a business tool that is targeted at companies that want their websites to support and expand their business.
Another feature that makes Dynamicweb stand out from the crowd is the Search Engine Optimization Module. This means, that Weber will be able to optimize the website and attract more visitors to their website. And Jacob Thomassen elaborates:

Weber had the design implemented in Dynamicweb and there is a small hand full of people working on the site on a day-today basis. But initially the concept is that the visitors and VIP members are the ones who will end up updating and maintaining the website. They can chat about their Weber grills, exchange recipes, arrange Weber meetings, create blogs, ask questions about Weber – really the options are endless!
The online shop will be selling Weber merchandise, such as aprons with the Weber logo, Weber pens, Weber kitchen utilities and of course Weber grills! |
