September 2007 : NTI

Building sustainable student relations

The Dutch private education center Nederlands Talen Instituut (NTI) has a total of 125 employees who, in cooperation with teachers, educate about 70,000 students in a variety of 350 different courses, ranging from short courses to bachelor degrees to master degrees.

For the biggest part, NTI relies on their website for customer contacts, student relations and, most importantly, sign ups. This generates very high demands for usability and accessibility, both from within and certainly for the end users: the students of NTI.

Their brand new website nti.nl, which was implemented by Dynamicweb Partner Mediaweb, has recently gone live and they are extremely pleased with the results:

I really like our new website! With the Dynamicweb CMS we have complete control over our website. We particularly value the fact that in the future we will be able to manage our Dutch and Belgian websites in one integrated solution, using just one content management system. That will save us lots of time.

Arjan Zuijderduijn

- Internet Marketing Specialist, NTI

Focus on search engine optimization

NTI’s demands for the new website were very specific. They wanted a much more search engine friendly site that would allow their customers and potential students to find them with just a few clicks of the mouse.

They were very unhappy with their old site in terms of maintenance, as it was very complicated and tedious to manage and update. Integration with their own in-house databases was non-existent, so the old site was an entity on its own with lots of mistakes and outdated content. More specifically, they needed to be able to re-use content already available within the organization.

In order to rid themselves of these problems and to get ready for the future, they chose Dynamicweb as a platform for their new web solution:

The NTI wanted a website that was geared towards conversion. Say, if someone visits the website and signs up for a course, then that's a conversion! In short they wanted more visitors to actually sign up for a course.  In addition they needed the website to be highly search engine optimized, both in technique and in ‘tweakability’. When we presented them with the possibilities offered by Dynamicweb, they were very impressed.

Peter van Marwijk,

- Project Manager, Mediaweb

And CEO of Mediaweb, Eric Van Hall, elaborates:
Even though we are only looking at preliminary numbers, already we can see a big difference in the conversion rate of the website. More people are actually signing up for courses and this is partly due to the fact that the whole concept of the website has changed and strongly improved, partly due to the website’s new and simplified sign-up forms. In changing their website, NTI has actually made it much easier for their visitors to find the correct course. And that has made all the difference.

Eric Van Hall,

- CEO, Mediaweb

The Dynamicweb Search module has been tweaked a little, in order to adjust it to the needs of NTI and can now be influenced by using meta keywords. Another interesting feature is the “opleidingzoeker”, which is an Ajax solution that enables visitors to find a course to their liking. This custom built feature functions through integration with the Dynamicweb Database Publishing. The crucial and most important functionality this site has to offer is the course-module, which imports the key data from existing databases and displays the courses in a viewer-friendly format.
