Tradition and change

In the summer of 2008, the Rosendahl Design Group acquired the renowned glass company Holmegaard. Since the first manufacturing of glass products in the Holmegaard Glass factory back in 1825 the mission has been to create glass products with soul and integrity. The Holmegaard brand represents an almost 200 year-old tradition of glasswork and craftsmanship that has managed to renew itself over and over in a way that makes their design and products typical representatives for Danish design over time. Today, Holmegaard is part of the Rosendahl Design Group, which also includes independent brands such as Rosendahl, Holmegaard, Kay Bojesen, Global and Rosendahl Watches.

In connection with the acquisition and relaunch strategy it was imperative to develop a new web platform that would support the Holmegaard brand and the sale of the Holmegaard products online. The new graphical identify of Holmegaard, unifying in an extraordinary way both the respect for the historical traditions and also the possibilities of the future, won the Danish re-brand award in 2010. The new Holmegaard ecommerce solution has been developed based on this new graphical line.

 

 

Acquisition and multi-brand strategy sets the standard 

As it is the case with the other brands managed in the Rosendahl Design Group, the new Holmegaard.dk is based on Dynamicweb CMS and eCommerce, where the products are updated automatically in the webshop through integration to Microsoft Dynamics AX.

The simple design on holmegaard.dk has been developed to compliment the essence of the Holmegaard brand – beautiful design used in modern everyday life. Following the wishes and feedback from focus groups, the design has been made with the intention of creating an inspiring presentation of the product groups, so that the visitors get the feeling of being in a physical shop. In many ways the webshop supports the sale in the physical shops selling the Holmegaard products by e.g. offering the possibility of looking up the closest dealer. At the same time, it was very important to present the products in a way that makes it easy to imagine how it would look in real life. The webshop works as an exhibition where the customers can review the products, read about them and check the prices.

Holmegaard also offers a gift wrapping service including the possibility to enclose a personal greeting to the recipient of the present. As part of the solution, a wish list feature has been developed, where the customer can select their favorite products and add them to a wish list.
